    LGBTQ patients experience disparities in access to and quality of care, leading to preventable, adverse health outcomes including elevated risk for specific chronic diseases and increased rates of suicide and depression. The Vanderbilt Program for LGBTQ Health works to address these disparities, improve the health of LGBTQ patients, and support education around LGBTQ Health.

    Vanderbilt’s Trans Buddy Program’s goal is to increase access to care and improve healthcare outcomes for transgender people by providing emotional support to transgender patients during healthcare visits. They emphasize a patient-centered approach, with the goal of empowering the patient to make informed healthcare decisions.
